Israeli theory test: frequently asked questions

The theory test for a private car (license B) has 30 multiple-choice questions. Each question has four possible answers and only one of them is correct.

You have 40 minutes to answer the 30 questions of the license B theory test.

You may get at most 4 questions wrong. To pass you need at least 26 correct answers out of 30.

private car (B), motorcycle (A) and tractor (1): from age 15 and a half; light truck (C1): from age 17 and a half; heavy truck (C): from age 19; bus (D): from age 20. Passing the theory test is required before the practical driving test.

All questions come from the official theory question bank of Israel's Ministry of Transport, published as open data on data.gov.il. The exam questions are drawn from this bank, so practicing the bank is the best way to prepare. The ministry publishes the bank in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, French and Spanish but not in English; the English text on this site is our translation of the Hebrew original.

The official bank has 1,802 questions. This site has 1,765 of them in English, in four topics: Traffic Laws (886), Road Signs (371), Safety (398), Vehicle Knowledge (110). By license type: license B (private car): 1,247; license A (motorcycle): 1,131; license 1 (tractor): 1,105; license C1 (light truck): 1,357; license C (heavy truck): 1,286; license D (bus): 1,287.

Go through all questions in the bank by topic, read the explanation for every question you got wrong, repeat your mistakes until they are gone, and take full timed mock tests until you pass them with confidence.
